Nature wastes no time, taking root whenever given the opportunity, in fear of not receiving another. Life will make a stand in the harshest conditions, rather than refusing to stand at all, and even if a generation only serves to pass the torch to the next, it has on principle achieved its purpose: to sustain as an entity, if not as an individual (Packard Plant, Detroit, 2009). I discovered this colony (for lack of better terms) of plant life on the roof of the Packard some years ago. I was impressed by the density of the plants whom had taken root in a low point of the roof where water had been gathered after a very wet spring. Upon later visits, I was unable to determine if this exact spot had survived, however this particular breed of greenery was present in other spots in the nearby area.
