A low lying fog painted an pink-ish orange by the city lights hovers over downtown Detroit, obscuring the top of the Renascence Center. The Detroit River, calm in its early morning hours, takes on a green hue from absorbing the light reflected by the fog. I took this photo on an early spring morning, delirious from insomnia and itching for some kind of creative release. When I first saw the scene I was only able to appreciate the brilliance of color in the skyline after taking in how vibrantly green the water was that morning. As I drove home later that morning, I listened to Detroit's local NPR station give another of countless reports on the looming threat of an Emergency Financial Manager taking over, and wondered as many Detroiter's have whether the fate of Belle Isle would fall into the fray.
