A collapse in the roof of the south end of the Packard Plant, nicknamed 'Stonehenge' by urban explorers. This was taken during one of my first visits to Packard and has remained one of the most interesting areas of the ruined complex throughout the years. This particular hole found its way into numerous documentaries for its juxtaposition of a decaying auto industry in Detroit. In the spring of 2012, due to the thawing of ice that had frozen and expanded within cracks in the concrete, this section of the roof collapsed further, extending to the west most wall and down another floor. While the change of scenery is dramatic in its own right, I tend to feel that its prior stasis was a more interesting. Perhaps it is nostalgia.
