What you see is an amalgamation of the last five or so years of my work. I’ve taken a bit of a shotgun approach at digital media, everyone tells me that ‘you can’t do it all at once’. For better or worse, I go ahead and try anyway.
I’ve been building and designing websites since my freshmen year of high school, about 8 years now. Along the way I discovered photography and began to incorporate this imagery into my work. At Wayne State University, I picked up a Communications degree in Media Arts and Studies, which for all intensive purposes is a film degree with some brief experience in television and radio. I initially pursued the degree to learn more about the audio production field. Being from Detroit I am a long standing fan of electronic music and its production. The idea of creating, controlling or mixing sounds, musical or otherwise, still peaks my interest. However, as my classes grew in intensity, and I began to further develop my photographic eye, I learned to appreciate all aspects of the film industry. I enjoy scenes that can speak legions through the sound and imagery alone.
In my spare time, I am apt to be mixing records, I am fascinated by the way evolution abstracts itself through dance music. When I’m not mixing or producing something, I’m likely to photographing the decayed buildings where Detroit Techno’s sound was built and nurtured through many endless nights, always taking a mental note of the location in the event of a future film shoot. My approach is unique, quite often scattered in early stages, until I unearth the idea that ties it all together, my own situational grand unified theory if you will.
I am largely self taught in the fields of audio, photography, web and graphic design. Thus, my proposition is simple, I can figure it out, and I will make it work. Have a look:
